The 20th annual road-running competition ‘The 3100-Mile Self-transcendence Race’, bearing the status of the longest certified race in the world, will be held from June 19th to August 9th, 2016 in New York, with a deadline of 52 days. There are 10 runners from 6 countries on the starting list to date. One athlete will start the race for the first time.

10. Shamita Achenbach-Koenig, 51, Austria (first start)

Runners will need to average 96 kilometres in 18 hours of daily running to meet the deadline. The route is a lap located in a residential area on the outskirts of New York City. The lap surface is a concrete sidewalk, and the lap length is 883 meters.

My workout mileage is increasing – these days, my weekly running volume is close to 100 miles. In preparation for the Race, I ran a marathon in April with the time of 3:16:49 – my best in 13 years. I have also already had several training sessions 50 km long. And finished third in 10K race in New York last week with the time of 40:54.

The scaffoldings at our 3,100-Mile track are finally being removed. We couldn’t stand constant college remodeling and construction for the past two years.

3100.15.12 - 026-X2

I will try to record video reports during the Race itself, when time permits. See you live on the track!
